Author of Site “R” Book to Speak at Fort Ritchie

The author of ‘RAVEN ROCK: The Story of the U.S. Government’s Secret Plan to Save Itself—While the Rest of Us Die’ will be the next featured presenter of the Fort Ritchie Community Center Speaker Series.  Garrett Graff, a journalist and historian, utilized thousands of recently declassified plans and documents to compile the book.

RAVEN ROCK is said to provide the eye-opening truth about the multibilliondollar Continuity of Government (COG) program. From the dawn of the nuclear era through the War on Terror, the COG determines the activities and processes that would allow the government to continue its essential operations following a nuclear attack—and even what totems of American culture should be saved.

The book is named for the secret military installation Raven Rock, also known as Site “R” and the underground Pentagon.  In a press release from the book’s publisher, Raven Rock is described as the Pentagon’s secret 650 acre bunker complex located near Camp David and the former Fort Ritchie property.

The Fort Ritchie Community Center provides a wide variety of services to local residents including community events, a fitness center, gymnasium, youth programs, and public forums.  The Community Center, now part of the Cascade Town Centre at Fort Ritchie, opened in September of 2008.

Graff will speak Tuesday, September 26, as part of the Community Center’s ongoing Speaker Series. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple.  The event begins at 6pm and will be held in Lakeside Hall, the former officer’s club at Fort Ritchie.  Ticket includes refreshments, an opportunity to meet the author, and the presentation by Graff.
